The Yankee Clipper and Bahia Cabana, both Hukilau host hotels, are SOLD OUT at this time. We have contracted another hotel that is within walking distance to the Mai-Kai. You will have to arrange your own transportation to all Hukilau events; it might be best if you rent a car if you choose to stay at this location. You must CALL to get the special Hukilau rate; do not book online. You must mention the Hukilau when making reservations! The Hukilau Rate is $88 a night.

SOLD OUT. The Yankee Clipper opened in July of 1956. Built to look like a ship, it was an instant success for Fort Lauderdale, a barely-developed paradise and evolving tourist trap dubbed the "Venice of America".
Among the hotel's many attractions were the Wreck Bar and the Polynesian Room. Marking their place in Polynesian-Pop history with the opening of The Polynesian Room, the Clipper was the first hotel in Fort Lauderdale with a floor show seating 300 for dinner. The Polynesian Room closed for good in the mid-'60s but the Wreck Bar, with its underwater view of the Clipper’s swimming pool, still remains and is always a destination for event attendees during Hukilau. The hotel once employed synchronized mermaids to swim in the pool to dazzle those sipping on cocktails. Over the years, the Clipper has added two additional buildings - now with over 500 sleeping rooms, two pools to choose from and a beachside deck. The Yankee Clipper will host most of the Hukilau activities this year including the Tiki Treasures Bazaar, Tiki Fashion Show, presentations by special guests including Jeff "Beachbum" Berry, Tiki Artistan Bosko and more!

SOLD OUT. Located just across the street from the Yankee Clipper is the Bahia Cabana. The lazy, relaxed atmosphere has been a favorite for Hukilau attendees for the last four years. Overlooking Fort Lauderdale’s largest boat marina, you can dine in their restaurant and bar and appreciate the beautiful view of the water. This is the location of Hukilau’s Kickoff Party on Thursday, June 12, 2008, and an alternative to the Clipper. The Bahia Cabana recently renovated all rooms, and high speed internet is available! |
